Volleyball Standards

Volleyball standards provide the backbone of the volleyball net. They may consist of steel or other sturdy materials capable of maintaining a solid position sticking up from the ground. They also must hold up the sides of the volleyball net and stretch it enough to provide adequate tension so that the net does not sag in the middle during the match. When setting up a gym or outdoor court for volleyball play, solid, stable and sturdy standards make a huge difference so that the net maintains the same height at every point. Just note that when setting up standards on a hard, unyielding surface, players may want to wear x-large knee pads to prevent injury in case of an accidental collision.
